DMX speak about Drake, Rick Ross, Jay-Z & more!

DMX says Jay-Z tried to get rid of him and adds that he doesn't like Drake. He also shares that he is not impressed by Rick Ross.

In a recent interview, DMX was candid about his feelings towards several emcees. The New York rapper shared that he feels Jay-Z tried to "eliminate the competition" during his time as Def Jam President. He also explained that he does not like Drake or "anything about Drake" and that he is not impressed by Rick Ross.

When speaking about Jay-Z, X said that he feels he wasn't treated fairly by Def Jam when Jigga was the head of the label.

"I see what's really good. You trying to eliminate the competition. At first you retire, then get me off the label and now you're back rapping again," he added as a guest on The Breakfast Club. "That was just some bullshit. You know what it is. That was getting rid of the competition."

Later, he was open about his feelings towards Rick Ross. X shared that he is not impressed and added that he feels Ross' subject matter is not diverse.

"I'm just not impressed," he said when a radio personality inquired about Rick Ross' lyrical skills. "He's aight, man. He talks about eating and girlfriends too much. How much can a nigga eat? How much weed can you smoke? Let's talk about something else...I see a whole 'nother side of the coin, son."

He was then asked if he liked Drake, to which he replied with a simple, "No." He then went further by saying he doesn't like anything about the Young Money emcee.

"No," he confirmed. "I don't like anything about Drake. I don't like his fucking voice. I don't like what he talks about. I don't like his face. I don't like the way he walks. Nothing."

An emcee he was complimentary towards was J. Cole, saying "J. Cole is nice." X also confirmed that he's on a new reality show with his ex-wife. He then added that he still drinks and smokes but says that he's not doing "hard" drugs. DMX also shared that he does not know how to use a computer and that he's not a fan of Twitter. Lil Wayne On Drake: "I'm His Boss"

Lil Wayne was asked about Drake's career, and the Young Money superstar was quick to praise his labelmate and friend. Weezy says that Drake can't lose--and he gave a very interesting reason as to why.

"Drake is my artist. If he wasn't my artist, then yeah maybe," Lil Wayne says. "But that's my artist. He's not [just] a friend. We're more than friends. It's business. It would be impossible for it to be a competition. I mean, I'm the guy's boss."

You can't argue with the guy's logic.

Drake Talks Special ‘Take Care’ Release

With Watch The Throne and Tha Carter IV both in stores now, the next major rap release many are anticipating is Drake’s Take Care. The sophomore album scheduled to be released on the Canadian’s birthday (October 24) will drop in two ways: a 15-17 track physical edition and a special birthday edition on iTunes that’ll include more songs. Drake breaks down the release process, his thoughts on Watch The Throne, his relationship with Rick Ross and working with Stevie Wonder with EW’s Brad Wete.

On Take Care release plans:

Obviously, I can only fit so many songs on a CD. So what I’m doing is there will be a Take Care physical edition in stores that’ll hopefully have 15 to 17 songs on it. Then I know a lot of people do deluxe editions. But since October 24 is a special day for me, I got, like, a Take Care birthday edition that I’m going to put on iTunes that will have extra songs. I really want to encourage people to be excited about the album releasing. I remember how excited a lot of artists used to make me. I used to want to buy the physical copy to see the artwork. And if there were any bonus tracks, I’d go find them. I’m definitely trying to cause some of that excitement. I hope people go get the songs off the birthday edition. It’s going to be great, man. I’ve got a wide array of music this time. I’m very excited.

Drake on Lil Wayne's Diss to Jay-Z

On the Red Carpet of the 11th annual BMI Awards, MTV’s Rob Markman catches up with Drake to ask about Lil’ Wayne’s shots directed at Jay-Z on “It’s Good” off Tha Carter IV. Like Jadakiss, Drake is keeping that between the two hip-hop heavyweights.

“I just got a beat and did a verse over it. Whatever any other individual has to say, you have to ask the man himself. I just did what I know how to do. I just got on a record. I heard the beat, did a verse and heard the final product. At the end of the day, rap is an individual art. You express yourself and whatever you wanna say, you say it, so I guess that’s a question for Wayne more than me.”

Trey Songz Wants Album With Drake?

Trey Songz recently revealed who he would like to record a Watch the Throne-style collaborative album with. The R&B star said Canadian rapper Drake would be his ideal choice--but admitted that he wouldn't want to do a joint project just for the sake of doing one.

“When thinking along the lines of that, Drake is the first person that comes to mind that I am that musically comfortable with in that space,” he said. “He is a friend of mine as well, and I think we can pull something off like that could sound very authentic.”

“I mean, you got to look at (Kanye and Jay-Z) and see how long it took them to do it, you know?" he added. "So it has to be organic in whatever way it happens. It can’t be a business decision and you can’t look at it in a way of making it lucrative. I think it has to be something that you are definitely going into for music’s sake. It has to be something real, because if it’s not authentic you can hear it.”

The Weeknd Reveals 'Thursday' Cover Art

We're going to XO til we overdose on The Weeknd. 

The Weeknd revealed the cover art of his highly anticipated mixtape Thursday.

Most of his fans have been dying to hear his new music, but as anticipation steadily grows, we still haven't heard any new tracks from The Weeknd in the past few weeks. 

Earlier this year, The Weeknd dropped his acclaimed mixtape House Of Balloons, which boasts 9 ill tracks.

House of Balloons definitely made an impact on the mainstream scene, when his song "High For This," got picked up as the promotional track used for the 8th and final season of HBO's Entourage. 

Bringing something new to the music game, The Weeknd is unlike any other artist we've ever heard. 

His fellow Canadian homie and rapper Drake declared that The Weeknd is "the greatest artist I've ever heard." 

Drake made a declaration,and we have to totally agree with him.

Drake to be Honored

Toronto native Drake will be honored with the 2011 Allan Slaight Award. The award is given to someone making a difference philanthropically in sports, music, literature, technology, film or performing arts.

Drake will be awarded a $10,000 honorarium during Canada's Walk of Fame Awards, which he says will be presented to Dixon Hall, a community-based service focused on creating opportunities for people in low income neighborhoods around Toronto.

"I am a proud Canadian, and I am grateful to Canada's Walk of Fame and the Slaight Foundation for this award," Drake said via press release.

"At 24 years of age, Drake has already achieved what has taken others a lifetime to do. He is kind, smart, talented, philanthropic and driven. He is an inspiring example to all, and we are proud to recognize him this year as our young Canadian making a positive impact," said Peter Soumalias, Founding Director, Canada's Walk of Fame.

**New** Lil' Wayne & Drake "She Will" off The Carter IV

Wayne and Drake collaborate on the latest track from The Carter IV, the dark knocker "She Will". I can already tell that this song is going to be everywhere, it's a great song that tickles the ear in that special kinda way. The verses are pretty standard for Wayne, but Drake kills that chorus as soon as the beat drops. Check it out below. Dope.

Lil Wayne Believes in Drake & Nicki

Lil Wayne has complete and total faith in Young Money superstars Drake and Nicki Minaj. Weezy says that he looks to be fine going forward, due in part to the ongoing success of his proteges-turned-megastars.

"You already know what I expect," Weezy says. "I expect to eat, and eat well. I expect [Drake] to be a lot more successful than he has ever been. I mean, this guy's a superstar. He is the definition. That's what I told y'all before he was: 'That's the definition of a superstar.' And like Nicki, he's only breaking ice. He has yet to be who he's going to be. I'm banking on them."

Drake Blasts Universal Motown

Drake took to Twitter to blast Universal Motown for taking down his music. The rapper apparently believes the label isn't maximizing his music's airplay. Drizzy says that his music is for his fans and he took exception to the label deciding to limit the places where his latest singles can be heard.

"Universal needs to stop taking my f*cking songs down. I am doing this for the people not for your label," he tweeted.

Drake famously feuded with former labelhead Sylvia Rhone prior to the release of his debut album. His second project, Take Care is due later this year.
