Who’ll be the next President? Jamie Foxx is the favorite ... to play him in ‘White House Down’

The race for the White House between President Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney may be too close to call, but one candidate is leading in a landslide for the Commander in Chief spot in director Roland Emmerich’s next movie.

Jamie Foxx is circling the role of the President in next year’s “White House Down,” a thriller about a terrrorist takeover of D.C.’s most famous residence, Variety reported.

Foxx’s Hollywood profile might be as strong as it has been since his Academy Award win for 2004’s “Ray.”

The 44-year-old actor plays the titular slave-turned-bounty-hunter in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming, “Django Unchained,” which has generated a lot of buzz since the first teaser trailer was released Wednesday night.

Sony is so high on the “24”-inspired picture — which stars Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent guarding the president — that the studio paid $3 million for the spec script from writer James Vanderbilt, according to the trade publication.

“White House Down” is not to be confused with Millenium Films’ rival project, “White House Taken,” directed by “Training Day’s” Antoine Fuqua and starring Gerald Butler
