"No Strings Attached" Tops the Box Office
Moviegoers committed this weekend to "No Strings Attached," the friends-with-benefits movie that exceeded expectations to finish No. 1.
"Strings," the only new wide release movie among the Top 10, earned $20.3 million and won Natalie Portman a second film in the Top 10. Portman was already riding high from her Golden Globe in "Black Swan," the dark film about the ballet world that took in $6.2 million to land No. 6.
"No Strings Attached" was marketed as the perfect date movie, with its slogan: "Can sex friends stay best friends?"
Last weekend's champion, "The Green Hornet," starring Seth Rogen as a playboy-turned-superhero, slipped to No. 2 with sales of $18.1 million. "The Dilemma," a Vince Vaughn and Kevin James romantic comedy, dropped to No. 3 with sales of $9.7 million.
