Disney to shoot "Pirates of Carribena 5 and 6" back to back
Captain Jack is back … again. And again.
Five months before "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" hits theaters, HitFix reports that Disney has started plans to shoot the fifth and sixth installments of the Johnny Depp-starring franchise back-to-back.
The plans are reportedly being kept hush-hush, but the entertainment site reports that Disney has "quietly [told] cast and crew to set aside a major block of time in the very near future so they can shoot 'Pirates 5' and 'Pirates 6.'"
The news is still speculation at this point, but there is precedent for such a maneuver: After the runaway success of the original "Pirates of the Caribbean" back in 2003, Disney shot the first two sequels, "Dead Man's Chest" and "At World's End" back-to-back as well with Depp and director Gore Verbinski; those films were released in 2006 and 2007.
"On Stranger Tides" just wrapped filming and is currently slated for release this summer.
The film's teaser trailer is due out with "Tron: Legacy" next week, and it will be the first glimpse of footage from the film that anyone has seen. Given these rumors, however, it appears Disney is already expecting Captain Jack and Co. to plunder plenty of booty at the box-office
