Timbaland & Missy Elliott Don't Have "Any Plans" To Participate In Aaliyah Album


Timbaland and Missy Elliott are out of the forthcoming Aaliyah album, but Drake is still in.
According to Billboard Elliott's longtime manager, Mona Scott-Young, announced that the duo is not participating in the project. “Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” said Scott-Young, who is also the executive producer of the Love & Hop-Hop series on VH1. “We've seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”

This new information is the latest in a bunch of conflicting reports, including Blackground Records head Jomo Hankerson stating that Timbo and Missy would be involved.
Late last week, Elliott responded to a fan congratulating her on the posthumous album by tweeting “I had not clue there was one, no 1 told me.” She later deleted the post.

In here statement about the project, Elliott shared fond memories of her friend. “Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us every day, like so many of the people who love her. She will always lie in our hearts. We have nothing but love and respect for her memory and for her loved ones left behind still grieving her loss. They are always in our prayers.”

In related news, Blackground Records announced a collaboration with New York based music publisher, Reservoir Media, and Black Fountain Music. “This partnership marks a pivotal time in our business at Reservoir and we are honored to be collaborating with Barry and Jomo Hankerson on such an important and iconic music catalog,” said Reservoice Executive VP Rell Lafargue in a statement to Hip-Hop Wired.

The deal includes the acquisition of Aaliyah and her late producer/songwriter, Static Major's, catalog in addition to the singer's new release.
