Rihanna is still emotional over Chris Brown. The 24-year-old's interview for Oprah's Next Chapter will air this weekend, and the OWN network released another snippet of the special. In the newly released clip, the Bajan beauty speaks on her reaction to being physically assaulted by Brown, and despite being the victim in the situation, she selflessly came to his aid. "I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help ... and who's going to help him?"
The singer went on to shed tears for her ex-boyfriend. "Nobody's going to say he needs help. Everybody's going to say he's a monster without looking at the source ... and I was more concerned about him," she said. "I lost my best friend. Everything I knew switched, switched in a night and I couldn't control that. It's not easy for me to understand or interpret, and it's not easy to interpret on camera, not with the world watching."
Given the media circus that ensued after the attack, Rih Rih revealed that it was hard for her to gather her thoughts, which may contribute to why she briefly reunited with Brown days after the altercation. While they haven't been seen together since, the twosome have maintained a professional relationship, collaborating on her "Birthday Cake" remix, and speak to one another via Twitter.
Brown was sentenced to five year's probation, and was ordered to take a domestic violence class, as well as complete community service. Although he is believed to have fulfilled his legal requirements, last month Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray ordered an audit to confirm that amount of hours o service that he actually completed. He is due back in court Aug. 21.
Rihanna's interview with Oprah airs Sunday, Aug. 19, at 9:00 p.m. EST.
