Nas Tops Charts With Life Is Good Album

Naming his album Life Is Good, seems to have paid off for Nas, because the rapper has something new to celebrate: topping the charts. As expected, the Queens MC's 10th release came in the No. 1 spot selling over 139,000 copies in its first week, according to Hits Daily Double.

Final figures will not be released by Billboard until tomorrow but as of now Nas pushed a respectable 139,402 beating out country act, Zack Brown Band, and more than doubling the numbers put up by Frank Ocean. While Ocean stole first place on iTunes for dropping his Channel Orange debut one week earlier than the physical copy, once the record hit stores it sold 59,825 copies. The numbers put the New Orleans native at nearly 200,000 albums (including digital sales) in just two weeks.
Even with the heavy anticipation behind Life Is Good, and critical acclaim across the Hip-Hop board, Mr. Jones was unable to surpass his last solo album, Untitled. Released in 2008, the album also topped Billboard's album charts, selling 187,078 copies.

Just because he scored another No. 1, don't expect Nas to slow down the promotion of the album. Aside from embarking on an international tour, the 39-year-old is scheduled to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight.
Life is good, indeed
